Dear Members of the Securities and Exchange Commission:
It's long past time to end secret political spending by corporations.
People vote, NOT Corporations. Why?
Who should decide the spending decisions?
All shareholders/bondholders?
The temporary & short-term top management team/board?
The employees whose lives are dependent on the Corporation?
The consumer Customers?
All those stakeholders + the communities in which they live have cause worry about decisions made by top management, with or without Wall ST pressure.
What if the politics of the CEO & his team are destructive to the customer base of the company?
So I strongly support the SEC issuing a rule in the near future that would require publicly traded corporations to publicly disclose all their spending on political activities.
Both shareholders and the public deserve to know how much a given corporation spends on politics (directly and through intermediaries), and which candidates are being promoted or attacked.
Real confidence by small investors as well as corporate bondholders & employees can ONLY occur with real-time transparency about Corporate political spending of ALL types.
Thank you all very kindly for your time and attention & that of your staff for considering my comment.
Yours truly, Mr. Brett Greisen NYC 10025
Sincerely,
Brett Greisen
