Mary Jo White, Chair
Securities and Exchange Commission
Dear Ms. White,
I urge you and the SEC to take up the issue of political spending by corporations as soon as possible.
Given the massive amounts of political spending flooding our political system, new rules are urgently needed to increase the transparency of political spending by corporations. Shareholders and, ideally, the public should have access to detailed information on corporate political spending, which clearly has the potential to impact the corporate bottom line. Shareholders should also have the ability to influence corporate spending, given that they have a financial stake in corporations.
