SEC
I am deeply concerned about the influence of corporate money on our electoral process.
In particular, I am appalled that, because of the Supreme Court's ruling in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, publicly traded corporations can spend investors' money in secret.
I am writing to urge the Securities and Exchange Commission to issue a rule requiring publicly traded corporations to publicly disclose all their political spending.
Both shareholders and the public must be fully informed as to how much the corporation spends on politics and which candidates are being promoted or attacked. Disclosures should be posted promptly on the SEC's web site.
This is becoming less and less of a democracy and more and more of a plutocracy. One (person) man, one (person) vote is a thing of the past with some individuals being able to have much more influence over elections than hundreds of others. We've simply GOT to wake up or this country is going to go the way of the dodo.
It's just amazing how incredibly short-sighted the rich are - when there is no more middle class, their bloated life styles can only come from cannibalizing each other ... and that is where we are going.
Either that or a violent civil war in which the rich get killed on sight. ... and they will clearly lose that war since they are so incredibly outnumbered. Of course, this is pessimistic to the extreme ... IF people wake up. It doesn't have to be this way!
Thank you for considering my comment.
Sincerely,
Larry Manter
