SEC

I am deeply concerned about the influence of corporate money on our electoral process.

In particular, I am appalled that, because of the Supreme Court's ruling in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, publicly traded corporations can spend investors' money in secret.

I am writing to urge the Securities and Exchange Commission to issue a rule requiring publicly traded corporations to publicly disclose all their political spending.

Both shareholders and the public must be fully informed as to how much the corporation spends on politics and which candidates are being promoted or attacked. Disclosures should be posted promptly on the SEC's web site.

I now feel that our country, the USA, is probably one of the worst places in the world to live.  It has been the cause of all of the wars for the last 80 years.  The people have been used, abused, ignored, devastated, poisoned by chemicals never tested, had their property and public lands destroyed by mining, fracking and nuclear power plants and leakage.  We live in one of the most toxic places on Earth, except, perhaps what was done in Iraq, where depleted uranium and white phosphorous was used and is now causing cancer in children.  Not that I know that they have not done this to us, here, in our own country.  And all of it has been done to benefit corporations allegedly being supervised by the SEC.

Remember, you and your children live here too.

Thank you for considering my comment.

Sincerely,

Joan Slezak Fritz
