SEC

I am deeply concerned about the influence of corporate money on our electoral process.

More and more US citizens are awakening to the fact that our food is much less safe than European food.  We are discovering that our GMO foods are introducing toxic chemicals into our bodies, and even worse, into the bodies of our children!  Is the health of US citizens to be sacrificed to enhance the pockets of Monsanto?  Are our "protectors" to be controlled by those benefitting from the
Citizens United Act?   Please protect the rights, health, and safety of
US citizens by providing transparency regarding the financial control of our political organizations.

In particular, I am appalled that, because of the Supreme Court's ruling in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, publicly traded corporations can spend investors' money in secret.

I am writing to urge the Securities and Exchange Commission to issue a rule requiring publicly traded corporations to publicly disclose all their political spending.

Both shareholders and the public must be fully informed as to how much the corporation spends on politics and which candidates are being promoted or attacked. Disclosures should be posted promptly on the SEC's web site.

Thank you for considering my comment.

Sincerely,

Caroletta Partain
