With the exception of retirement planning and a mass overview of the types of funds available, neither my current organization nor any previous ones have provided or sponsored any investor education programs.

The two most important elements of an effective investor education program are the conveyance of understanding risk associated with the investment as well as a basic understanding of concepts related to the time value of money.

Investor education programs should focus on investment goals and delineate between short term goals, such as saving for an automobile, medium term, such as saving for a child's education, and long term, such as retirement.
