As a Certified Financial Planner, I am held to high fiduciary standards that place my clients needs far above my own. I have heard many clients tell stories of brokers that have sold them products that were not appropriate. Because of this I feel that anyone who acts in an investment advisory position, brokers, financial planners, investment advisors, etc. should all be held to the same fiduciary standards that place the client's needs first. Most consumers cannot differentiate the different types of investment professionals, but deserve the same standard of care from all. This will help to foster and restore trust and integrity in our field.
