I presently hold life and health, property and casualty and Series 6 licenses. We have a written compliance policy in my office and adher to a strict policy administered my by company, State Farm. We participate in a day-long audit and compliance session annually, and also attend Ethics and Compliance required courses once a year. My client files are carefully screened at the time of application and prior to finalization because of both my office guidelines and my company guidelines regarding suitability and the application thereof.
I do not believe additional regulation is the answer to broker-dealers in comparison to investment advisors. The standards for suitability are already in place for broker-dealers and anything more would be both unnecessary and burdensome.
