As a believer in and devoted practitioner of corporate sustainability responsibility, I write to you to express my support for The Green Impact Exchange. In my role as an economic, political and corporate strategist, I search for effective and pragmatic solutions to complicated international problems. The state of the environment and climate change are global problems, and the solution is GIX. Working extensively with corporations I am astutely aware that they all want to be seen as responsible to their stakeholders, however, their words and actions don’t necessarily coincide. The Green Impact Exchange will keep corporations honest and transparent through their listing standards. GIX incentivizes companies listed on its exchange to be environmentally responsible or face the risk of being delisted. To date, there is no other mechanism that accomplishes this. As a President Emeritus of the Foreign Press Association of the United States, part of my role is to provide opportunities to keep members in contact with American life and opinion and with affairs in other countries and to foster international goodwill through relationships built through global media. In doing so, I have been exposed to diverse international interests and opinions, yet, the one subject that unites us all is our desire for clean air, sufficient water and fresh food. GIX’s role goes beyond the US as many of its listed companies will have operations globally and have responsibilities on a global front. Thus, GIX is fixing a global problem. Over the years, when not in the US, I spend considerable time in Uruguay, ranked as one of the most sustainable nations in the world due to its efforts to reduce emissions and use renewable energy. It generates 98% of its electricity from renewable sources. Its rapid adoption and expansion of sustainable sources of energy has been lauded internationally as a model for transitioning the nation’s power systems. Just as Uruguay is serves as a role model for sustainability, so too does GIX, for the capital markets and stock exchanges around the world. Thank you
