Jay Dhar

Jay Dhar is an SEC Fellow (Economist) with the Office of the Investor Advocate. His research interests extend to experimental economics, political economy, economic history, and agricultural economics. His recent empirical work examines the impact of last-mile access to all-weather roads on the diffusion of motor vehicles on American farms in the 20th century and examines the impact of motor vehicles on agricultural productivity. His recent experimental work seeks to measure the impact of group identity on subjects’ thinking regarding economic integration between a developed country and a developing country, and the attendant taxation and redistribution issues that arise.

He holds a B.S. in Economics from George Washington University and an M.A. in Economics from the University of Arizona, and will soon be awarded a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Arizona.
