Nature Of Operations	Texas Industries, Inc. and subsidiaries is a leading supplier of heavy construction materials in the southwestern United States through our three business segments: cement, aggregates and concrete. Our principal products are gray portland cement, produced and sold through our cement segment; stone, sand and gravel, produced and sold through our aggregates segment; and ready-mix concrete, produced and sold through our concrete segment. Our facilities are concentrated primarily in Texas, Louisiana and California. When used in these notes the terms “Company,” “we,” “us” or “our” mean Texas Industries, Inc. and subsidiaries unless the context indicates otherwise. We have changed the name of our "consumer products" segment to "concrete". This change impacts only the name of the segment to better reflect the business activity that occurs within the segment, and does not impact or change the financial information that we report through this segment.
