On January 30, 2004, Stone Container Corporation issued a press release reporting its earnings for the fourth quarter of 2003 and the full year ended December 31, 2003.  A copy of the press release is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1.  The Company has also disclosed its EBITDA for the full year ended December 31, 2003.  A reconciliation of EBITDA to the most directly comparable GAAP financial measure is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.2.
