        Stone Container Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation, issued a press release on June 18, 2002 announcing that it has obtained signed commitments to amend and restate its existing bank credit agreements to, among other things, provide up to $1.3 billion of new term loan facilities. For information regarding the transaction, reference is made to the press release dated June 18, 2002, which is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1 and incorporated herein by reference.
