        Pursuant to Rule 135c under the Securities Act, Stone Container Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation, issued a press release on June 14, 2002 announcing that it is pursuing the issuance of approximately $400 million of senior notes.
