10. Stockholders’ Equity

At December 31, 2016 and 2015, treasury stock consisted of 3,470,084 shares and 3,428,541 shares of common stock, respectively. During 2016, 43,835 shares of Company common stock were purchased in the open market, and 5,295shares were received to settle employees’ minimum statutory withholding taxes related to performance stock awards and deferred compensation distribution. Also, 7,587 shares of treasury stock were distributed to participants under the Company’s deferred compensation plan.
