On October 1, 2014, Sandell Asset Management Corp. (“SAMC”) issued by press release a letter to the board of directors (the “Board”) of JDS Uniphase Corporation (the “Company”). A copy of the press release (which includes the full text of the letter to the Board) is filed herewith as Exhibit 1.
