SHORT-TERM INVESTMENTS All current fixed maturity securities are classified as “available for sale” and are reported at carrying value, which approximates fair value based on the discounted value of contractual cash flows. We have determined that our investment securities are available to support current operations and, accordingly, have classified such securities as current assets without regard to contractual maturities. We held no short-term investments as of December 31, 2013 and 2012. Investments at December 31, 2011 consisted of certificates of deposit.
