16. New Accounting Guidance

During the third quarter of fiscal year 2014, the Financial Accounting Standards Board (“FASB”) issued an accounting standard which will supersede existing revenue recognition guidance under current U.S. GAAP. The new standard is a comprehensive new revenue recognition model that requires a company to recognize revenue to depict the transfer of goods or services to a customer at an amount that reflects the consideration it expects to receive in exchange for those goods or services. The accounting standard is effective for the Company in the first quarter of fiscal year 2018. Companies may use either a full retrospective or a modified retrospective approach to adopt this standard and management is currently evaluating which transition approach to use. The Company is currently in the process of assessing what impact this new standard may have on its Condensed Consolidated Financial Statements.

In April 2015, the FASB issued new accounting guidance intended to simplify the presentation of debt issuance costs. The guidance requires that debt issuance costs related to a recognized debt liability be presented as a direct deduction from the carrying amount of that debt liability on the balance sheet, consistent with the presentation for debt discounts. This guidance must be applied on a retrospective basis and is effective for the Company beginning in the first quarter of fiscal year 2017 with early adoption permitted. The Company does not expect the adoption of this guidance to have a significant impact on its Condensed Consolidated Financial Statements.
