Marketable Securities

Marketable securities consist primarily of highly liquid certificates of deposit and U.S. treasury bills. Marketable securities are classified as either short-term or long-term in the condensed consolidated balance sheet based on their effective maturity date. All marketable securities as of June 30, 2012, have original maturities ranging from three to 12 months and are classified as available-for-sale. Available-for-sale securities are recorded at fair value and any unrealized holding gains and losses, net of the related tax effect, are excluded from earnings and are reported as a separate component of accumulated other comprehensive income until realized. See Note 9, "Fair Value Measurements," for a discussion of inputs used to measure the fair value of the Company's available-for-sale securities.
