Barnett, a member of the Board of Directors of Sterling Financial Corporation ("Sterling"), has retired as a member of Sterling’s Board of Directors effective following Sterling’s Annual Meeting of Shareholders on April 24, 2007. Mr. Barnett’s retirement did not involve any disagreement with Sterling, Sterling’s management or Sterling’s Board of Directors.
