Income Taxes The effective tax rate for the third quarter of 2014 was 27.3% compared to an effective tax rate of 26.1% in the third quarter of 2013 reflecting more income earned in higher tax jurisdictions in the third quarter of 2014. The effective tax rate for the nine months ended September 27, 2014 was 25.0% as compared to an effective tax rate of 27.6% for the nine months ended September 28, 2013. The higher tax rate for the nine months ended September 28, 2013 was primarily the result of certain non-recurring tax items.

9. Income Taxes
