15. Restructuring charges

In the fourth quarter of 2010, the Company initiated a reorganization plan to further streamline operations and lower operating costs within its Spine, Orthopedics and Sports Medicine GBUs. During the fourth quarter of 2010, the Company recorded restructuring charges of $0.4 million in Spine and $3.2 million in Orthopedics which were related to employee severance costs. Final cash payments were made during September 30, 2011 and no further charges are anticipated.

The following table presents changes in the restructuring liability, which is included within other current liabilities in the condensed consolidated balance sheets as of September 30, 2011 and December 31, 2010:
