Cash, Cash Equivalents, and Short-Term Investments
The Company considers all highly liquid investments purchased with an original maturity of three months or less to be cash equivalents. Short-term investments typically consist of marketable securities and money market investments with maturities between three and twelve months. Investments are classified as held-to-maturity, trading, or available-for-sale at the time of purchase. At October 1, 2011 and June 30, 2010, the Company had $7.1 million and $8.6 million in cash and cash equivalents, respectively.
Realized gains or losses, interest, and dividends are included in interest income.
