Income Taxes

Income Taxes. Our overall effective tax rate for the three months ended March 31, 2012 and 2011 was 27.4% and 32.2%, respectively, which resulted in a provision for income taxes of $2.2 million and $3.2 million, respectively. The decrease in the effective income tax rate for the first quarter of 2012, when compared to the first quarter of 2011, was primarily related to the increased profit of our Irish operations, which are taxed at a lower rate than our U.S. operations.
