Note 19 – Litigation

The Company and its subsidiaries are subject in the ordinary course of business to various pending or threatened legal proceedings in which claims for monetary damages are asserted. During 2014, the Company accrued $6.5 million for litigation expenses as a result of an adverse jury verdict rendered in the second quarter of 2014 associated with the actions of a former employee of CommerceFirst Bank, which was acquired in 2012. In the fourth quarter of 2015, as a result of a settlement of all claims, including claims for a contribution from its insurer relating to this litigation, the Company reversed $4.5 million in the previously accrued litigation expenses.

After consultation with legal counsel, management does not anticipate that the ultimate liability, if any, arising out of any other legal matters will have a material adverse effect on the Company's financial condition, operating results or liquidity.
