Pension and Postretirement Benefits EOG has defined contribution pension plans in place for most of its employees in the United States, Canada, Trinidad and the United Kingdom, and defined benefit pension plans covering certain of its employees in Canada and Trinidad. For the six months ended June 30, 2012 and 2011, EOG's total costs recognized for these pension plans were $18.8 million and $13.9 million, respectively. EOG also has postretirement medical and dental plans in place for eligible employees in the United States and Trinidad, the costs of which are not material.
