Income Taxes	15. Income Taxes Our effective income tax rate for the six months ended June 30, 2018 and 2017 was 20.1% and 30.9%, respectively. The decrease in the effective tax rate was due primarily to the lower statutory rate from the enactment of the TCJA on December 22, 2017. The rates varied from the statutory rate primarily due to the amount of tax exempt income in relation to pretax income.
