Schedule of Treasury Stock by Class [Text Block]	Repurchases of Common Shares During the first quarter of fiscal 2012, we repurchased 170,000 of our common shares for an aggregate amount of $5,807, representing an average price of $34.16 per common share. This includes certain June 2011 repurchases that were not settled until July 2011. We also obtained 21,329 of our common shares during the first quarter of fiscal 2012 in connection with stock based compensation award programs. At June 30, 2011, $168,595 of STERIS common shares remained authorized for repurchase pursuant to a March 2008 Board Authorization. Also, 10,776,992 common shares were held in treasury at June 30, 2011.
