Navistar International Corporation (the "Registrant") today announced a voluntary plan through which shareholders owning fewer than 100 shares may sell their holdings. The Registrant will not buy or sell any of these shares but will utilize Mellon Investor Services ("Mellon"), the transfer agent for Navistar International Corporation, to administer the program. Shares received by Mellon will be sold in the open market on a weekly basis and investors will receive the weighed average price resulting from these transactions. Participants will pay a fee of $3 per share up to a maximum of $50 per account. Those eligible will be notified by m ail and will have until November 17, 2004 to participate.

Navistar International Corporation (NYSE: NAV) is the parent company of International Truck and Engine Corporation. The company produces International® brand commercial trucks, mid-range diesel engines and IC brand school buses and is a private label designer and manufacturer of diesel engines for the pickup truck, van and SUV markets. With the broadest distribution network in North America, the company also provides financing for customers and dealers.
