BUSINESS INTERRUPTION INSURANCE BUSINESS INTERRUPTION INSURANCEThe Company experienced business interruptions from the COVID-19 pandemic and a tornado on December 10, 2021 in Mayfield, Kentucky that significantly damaged two hatcheries and a feed mill. The Company maintains certain insurance coverage, including business interruption insurance, intended to cover such circumstances. In the three and six months ended June 25, 2023, the Company received $52.5 million and $53.7 million in proceeds from business interruption insurance, respectively. In the six months ended June 25, 2023, the Company recognized $35.9 million in income from business interruption insurance in Cost of sales on the Condensed Consolidated Statement of Income, with $25.3 million in the U.S. reportable segment and $10.6 million in the U.K. and Europe reportable segment.
