NOTE L – RECENTLY ISSUED ACCOUNTING PRONOUNCEMENTS

In December 2019, the FASB issued ASU No. 2019-12, Simplifying the Accounting for Income Taxes, which is intended to simplify the accounting for income taxes by removing certain exceptions to the general principles of ASC 740, Income Taxes, and providing for simplification in several other areas.  The standard is effective for fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2020.  The Company believes the adoption of ASU 2019-12 will not have a material impact on its consolidated financial statements.

In June 2016, the FASB issued ASU No. 2016-13, Financial Instruments—Credit Losses (Topic 326): Measurement of Credit Losses on Financial Instruments, which provides guidance for estimating credit losses on certain types of financial instruments, including trade receivables, by introducing an approach based on expected losses. The expected loss approach requires entities to incorporate considerations of historical information, current information and reasonable and supportable forecasts. ASU 2016-13 also amends the accounting for credit losses on available-for-sale debt securities and purchased financial assets with credit deterioration.  The new standard was adopted on January 1, 2020 and was applied prospectively.  The Company has made changes to its processes for the assessment of the adequacy of the allowance for credit losses on certain types of financial instruments, including accounts receivable, notes receivable, and available-for-sale debt securities.  The adoption of ASU 2016-13 did not have a material impact on the consolidated financial statements, related disclosures, and results of operations.
