6.      GOODWILL

The consolidated financial statements include the goodwill resulting from the acquisition of Immucor in the first quarter of fiscal 2012, and of LIFECODES in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2013. The following table presents the changes in the carrying amount of goodwill during the six months ended November 30, 2013 and the fiscal year ended May 31, 2013 (in thousands):
