ITEM 8.01. Other Events.
On October 17, 2006, Roche, OSI Pharmaceuticals, Inc.’s (“OSI”) international partner for the distribution and sale of its oncology drug, Tarceva® (erlotinib), announced that the net international sales of Tarceva for the quarter ended September 30, 2006 were approximately $70 million.
On October 17, 2006, Merck & Co., Inc. announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (the “FDA”) approved Januvia™ (sitagliptin phosphate), the first DP-IV inhibitor available in the United States for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Merck’s non-exclusive license of OSI’s DP-IV patent estate entitles OSI to receive a milestone payment as a result of this FDA approval and royalties on future sales of Januvia.
