NOL Rights Agreement (Additional Textual) [Abstract]
Terms of the rights agreement	Under the Rights Agreement, the Board of Directors declared a non-taxable dividend of one preferred share purchase right for each outstanding share of common stock to be distributed to stockholders of record on August 25, 2011. Concurrent with the signing of the Merger Agreement with Biota, Nabi and the rights agent amended the Rights Agreement to terminate the rights under the Rights Agreement.
