HECLA ANNOUNCES MINE PLAN ACCEPTANCE

COEUR D’ALENE, IDAHO — Hecla Mining Company (HL:NYSE) today announced it has been notified by its banking group the mine plan is satisfactory. Accepting the mine plan confirms the bridge loan maturity date of February 16, 2009. The loan was part of the financing obtained to purchase the remaining 70.27% of the Greens Creek joint venture in April 2008.
