Costs Associated with Exit or Disposal Activities or Restructurings	Special Charges We record restructuring charges within special charges in the consolidated statement of income in connection with our plans to better align our cost structure with projected operations in the future. Special charges primarily consist of costs incurred related to certain litigation, employee severance, acquisitions, excess facilities, and asset related charges. Employee severance and related costs include severance benefits, notice pay, and outplacement services. These rebalance charges generally represent the aggregate of numerous unrelated rebalance plans which impact several employee groups, none of which is individually material to our financial position or results of operations. We determine termination benefit amounts based on employee status, years of service, and local statutory requirements. We communicate termination benefits to the affected employees prior to the end of the quarter in which we record the charge.

Disclosure of accounting policy for costs associated with exit or disposal activities or restructurings that do not involve an entity newly acquired in a business combination or a discontinued operation as defined by generally accepted accounting principles. Such costs include one-time termination benefits, costs to terminate an operating lease or other contract, and costs to consolidate or close facilities and relocate employees, but exclude costs associated ongoing benefit arrangements and costs associated with the retirement of a long-lived asset.
