The below video script is drawn from an End-of-Year 2020 video communication sent to certain S&P Global employees by Martina Cheung, President of S&P Global Market Intelligence.

I want to take a moment to address everyone in Market Intelligence regarding the leadership changes announced yesterday. We are in such a unique and exciting moment in our company’s history. Over the past two weeks, I joined many of you during your town halls, and I was so encouraged by the enthusiasm displayed across the MI community about the news of this merger.”

“It’s a point in time that will bring about change, but also opportunities for our business, our people and our customers. Most importantly, we’re in this incredible position thanks to all of your collective efforts. I want to reiterate how proud I am of everyone in Market Intelligence for delivering on such an incredible year. You all stepped up and challenged yourselves in ways that were previously unimaginable and helped build the foundation for our journey ahead. You have given the leadership team the utmost confidence that Market Intelligence is ready for its next chapter.”

Yesterday, Doug [Peterson] announced a few changes to S&P Global leadership that I want to expand on. In relation to the MI Operating Committee, I want to congratulate Saugata Saha, MI’s CFO, who will lead S&P Global Platts effective January 1. Saugata has been an instrumental part of my leadership team in MI and I am thrilled for his next chapter. I’m also happy to share the news that Jason Gibson, CFO of Indices, will be taking over for Saugata as the new Chief Financial Officer for Market Intelligence and Platts. Jason brings a wealth of experience from our Index business and I look forward to welcoming him on the MI OpCo in January. With these changes already under way, I have also decided not to fill the MI Chief Operating Officer role at this time.

“I would also like to expand on updates regarding my role in the coming year. First, effective immediately until the close of the IHS merger, I will co-lead the Integration Management Office, along with Jonathan Gear, CFO of IHS Markit. My priorities in this role will be to establish the rigorous and discipline principles, processes and governance that will guide S&P Global’s decision-making from planning through delivery. The integration workstreams will comprise of nominated members from across both S&P Global and IHS Markit to help shape the new organization. I’m excited to share that Greg Gartland will lead the integration on behalf of Market Intelligence, along with a partner on the IHS side nominated by Adam Kansler.”

“Second, I am excited to share that I will also lead a new S&P Global ESG organization. This new enterprise ESG group will combine cross-divisional ESG assets, led by a leadership team who will accelerate our growth in the ESG market. I shared details earlier on my ESG leadership team. And you will hear more about our strategy and plans in January.”

“Lastly, upon close of the deal, I will move to become President of S&P Global Ratings and Adam Kansler, President of Financial Services with IHS Markit, will become the new President of Market Intelligence. I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Adam extensively through the due-diligence process and he can’t wait to get to know everybody in Market Intelligence. Between MI and IHS Financial Services, we’ve had more than 20 years of innovation and growth. And Adam echoes my enthusiasm in the massive potential that our combined businesses will bring. You will all get to know Adam more in the coming year, but I will also share some of my thoughts on him. Adam is an incredibly thoughtful leader who very knowledgeable about our clients and the markets we serve. will be entering this role with energy and excitement and like you, he will come to this with an open mind and innovative aspirations. I will continue my role as President of MI until the deal closes and will work closely with Adam and the rest of the leadership team on a smooth transition.“

“We have a long road ahead that will bring change but also open doors to so many new opportunities. Until the deal closes, S&P Global and IHS Markit will continue to operate as two separate companies, and deliver for our respective customers, shareholders and colleagues. I’d like to reiterate how much pride I have in everything we accomplished this year. Despite the circumstances and the level of change, we maintained focused on executing for our customers. I have been so proud to lead an incredibly resilient group of people and I feel extremely confident in the future of Market Intelligence. I wish you all a happy holiday season and let’s make sure to carry our focus and momentum into 2021! Thank you.”
