Long-term Purchase Commitments

Under all of the Company’s aircraft and engine purchase agreements, its total future commitments as of December 31, 2015 are expected to be as follows (approximately, in millions):

These amounts are net of purchase deposits currently held by the manufacturers and include all commitments for wholly-owned regional aircraft. American has granted Boeing a security interest in its purchase deposits with Boeing. The Company’s purchase deposits totaled $1.1 billion as of December 31, 2015.

Represents minimum payments under capacity purchase agreements with third-party regional carriers. These commitments are estimates of costs based on assumed minimum levels of flying under the capacity purchase agreements and the Company’s actual payments could differ materially. These obligations also include the portion of the Company’s future obligations related to aircraft deemed to be leased in the amount of approximately $469 million in 2016, $414 million in 2017, $334 million in 2018, $292 million in 2019, $235 million in 2020 and $704 million in 2021 and thereafter.
