Our regional carriers provide scheduled air transportation under the brand name “American Eagle.” The American Eagle carriers include our wholly-owned regional carriers as well as third-party regional carriers. Our regional carrier arrangements are in the form of capacity purchase agreements. Expenses associated with American Eagle operations are classified as regional expenses on the condensed consolidated statements of operations.
Regional expenses for each of the three months ended June 30, 2023 and 2022 include $80 million of depreciation and amortization and $1 million of aircraft rent. Regional expenses for each of the six months ended June 30, 2023 and 2022 include $160 million of depreciation and amortization and $3 million of aircraft rent.
During the three months ended June 30, 2023 and 2022, we recognized $168 million and $160 million, respectively, of expense under our capacity purchase agreement with Republic Airways Inc. (Republic). During the six months ended June 30, 2023 and 2022, we recognized $336 million and $310 million, respectively, of expense under our capacity purchase agreement with Republic. We hold a 25% equity interest in Republic Airways Holdings Inc., the parent company of Republic.

American’s regional carrier arrangements are in the form of capacity purchase agreements. Expenses associated with American Eagle operations are classified as regional expenses on the condensed consolidated statements of operations.
Regional expenses for each of the three months ended June 30, 2023 and 2022 include $67 million of depreciation and amortization and $1 million of aircraft rent. Regional expenses include $135 million and $134 million of depreciation and amortization for the six months ended June 30, 2023 and 2022, respectively, and $3 million of aircraft rent for each of the six months ended June 30, 2023 and 2022.
During the three months ended June 30, 2023 and 2022, American recognized $168 million and $160 million, respectively, of expense under its capacity purchase agreement with Republic Airways Inc. (Republic). During the six months ended June 30, 2023 and 2022, American recognized $336 million and $310 million, respectively, of expense under its capacity purchase agreement with Republic. American holds a 25% equity interest in Republic Airways Holdings Inc., the parent company of Republic.
