(b) On February 21, 2023, Francis J. Shammo notified Unum Group (the “Company”) that he would not stand for re-election to the Company’s Board of Directors (the “Board”) at the Company’s 2023 Annual Meeting of Shareholders and would leave the Board at the conclusion of his current term. Mr. Shammo’s decision not to stand for re-election was not due to any disagreement with the Company on any matter relating to the Company’s operations, policies or practices.
