The following information is furnished under Item 7.01 - Regulation FD Disclosure:

On June 20, 2016, American Express Company (the “Company”) announced that it has completed the previously announced sale of the Card Member loans and receivables related to its cobrand partnership with Costco Wholesale Corporation in the United States. As previously disclosed, the Company expects to recognize a gain of approximately $1 billion in the second quarter of 2016 in connection with the sale.
