9. Stock Compensation Plans
The Hartford has three primary stock-based compensation plans. The Company is included in these plans and has been allocated compensation expense $7 and $6 for the three months ended June 30, 2011 and 2010 and $14 and $14 for the six months ended June 30, 2011 and 2010, respectively. The Company’s income tax benefit recognized for stock-based compensation plans was $3 and $2 for the three months ended June 30, 2011 and 2010 and $5 and $5 for the six months ended June 30, 2010 and 2011, respectively. The Company did not capitalize any cost of stock-based compensation.
