The following table shows our effective income tax rate for the six months ended June 30:

The increase in the effective rate for the current year compared to the prior year is primarily due to the impairment of the Specialized Gas Vessels, for which no tax benefit was recorded as the vessels are not subject to tax, offset by benefits related to a reduction in the statutory tax rate of Austria in the current year, as well as the mix of pre-tax income among domestic and foreign jurisdictions, which are taxed at different rates.
