Item 5.02(b) section – Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.

Dennis J. Mack, the Chief Lending Officer and Executive Vice President of Independent Bank Corporation (the "Company"), and a Named Executive of the Company, will retire from employment with the Company, effective as of January 29, 2021. On January 25, 2021 the Board of Directors appointed Joel Rahn as a section 16 filer as Executive Vice President of Commercial Banking. Mr. Rahn will replace Mr. Mack. Mr. Rahn previously served the Company as Senior Vice President of Commercial Banking of the Company's West Michigan region. Mr. Rahn joined the Company in April of 2018. He has 33 years of commercial banking experience and has served in senior leadership positions for the past 16 years.
