12. COMMITMENTS AND CONTINGENCIES

FACILITY LEASES – the Company leases certain facilities and equipment under various operating leases. These leases require the Company to pay the lease cost, operating costs, including property taxes, insurance, and maintenance. Total lease expense related to the various operating leases was approximately $4.9 million, $3.5 million and $2.8 million in fiscal 2016, 2015 and 2014, respectively.
