Allegheny Energy, Inc. announced on April 16, 2003 that the previously announced retirement of Alan J. Noia as Chairman of the Board of Directors, President and Chief Executive Officer is to be effective on April 18, 2003, and that the Board of Directors has appointed Jay S. Pifer to serve as Interim President and Chief Executive Officer, and James J. Hoecker to serve as Lead Director.
