General

The accompanying unaudited Condensed Consolidated Financial Statements have been prepared in accordance with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) for interim financial information and with the instructions to Form 10-Q and Article 10 of Regulation S-X. Accordingly, they do not include all of the information and footnote disclosures required by GAAP for complete consolidated financial statements and certain information and footnote disclosures included in the Company’s annual consolidated financial statements and accompanying notes included in the Company’s Annual Report on Form 10-K for the year ended December 31, 2016 (2016 Form 10-K), filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), have been condensed or omitted. In the opinion of management, all adjustments (consisting of normal recurring adjustments) considered necessary for a fair presentation have been included. The year-end condensed balance sheet data was derived from audited financial statements, but does not include all disclosures required by GAAP.

These financial statements and accompanying notes should be read in conjunction with the consolidated financial statements and accompanying notes included in the Company’s 2016 Form 10-K. The Company’s significant accounting policies are described in the Notes to the Consolidated Financial Statements in the 2016 Form 10-K and updated, as necessary, in Note 3 in this Form 10-Q. The results of the Company’s operations for any interim period are not necessarily indicative of the results of operations for any other interim period or full year.

All intercompany accounts and transactions have been eliminated in consolidation. The Company's international operations are immaterial and it has no unrealized gains or losses from the sale of investments. As a result, it does not have any items that would be classified as other comprehensive income in such a statement.
