Equity

The decrease in common stock during the nine months ended September 30, 2022, was primarily due to the repurchases of 3.3 million shares, partially offset by the issuance of 1.4 million shares of the Company’s common stock, net of cancellations, under the Company’s stock-based compensation plans and the issuance of 0.2 million shares of common stock as partial consideration for an investment in Green Marbles. The total net decrease was 1.8 million shares.

The Company recorded a cash dividend of $0.120 per share during the third quarter of 2022 as compared to a cash dividend of $0.120 per share during the third quarter of 2021. The third quarter 2022 dividend of $28.2 million was declared on August 31, 2022 and was paid on October 19, 2022.
