Interest and Other Expense, Net

Interest and other expense, net, consisted of the following for the fiscal years ended:

Foreign currency transaction losses (gains) were $6.5 million, $(9.4) million and $(29.2) million in fiscal years 2019, 2018 and 2017, respectively. Net (gains) losses from forward currency hedge contracts were $(3.5) million, $11.7 million and $(4.5) million in fiscal years 2019, 2018 and 2017, respectively. The other components of net periodic pension cost (credit) were $25.3 million, $11.5 million and $(9.2) million in fiscal years 2019, 2018 and 2017, respectively. These amounts were included in other expense (income), net.
