Fair Value Measurements
At October 31, 2016, the carrying values of cash and cash equivalents, short-term investments, accounts receivables, short-term borrowings and trade accounts payable approximate fair value because of the short-term nature of these instruments and are classified as Level 1 in the fair value hierarchy. As of October 31, 2016, the estimated fair value of debt with fixed interest rates was $384.3 million compared to its carrying value of $375.0 million. The fair value is estimated by discounting the projected cash flows using the rate that similar amounts of debt could currently be borrowed, which is classified as Level 2 in the fair value hierarchy.
